In most of my recent jobs, my mom has had a hand in helping me out. When I worked at the Gates Foundation as part of the US Library program, she offered feedback on materials we distributed along with the granted computers. When we started the September Project, she engaged not only her local library, but just about every library to which she had a connection, which was a lot! And now, at the MaintainIT Project, she's off taking photos of libraries in Nebraska to add to our Flickr account. I don't get many chances to leave TechSoup, so when mom said she and dad were road tripping through Nebraska, I asked if she could capture their trip through public libraries, and she accepted!
the "former" Rushville Public Library
From my mom:
"Met a lot of people who were extremely helpful and pointed us in the right direction. The funniest was in Crawford.....we drove around town several times and finally stopped for gas and your dad asked the question. The guy looked at him a little funny, then chuckled and pointed across the street. We all chuckled then."
Check out the momshots on Flickr. They're pretty great!
